What to do before class

Get comfortable on a motorcycle before you even walk into your first class. Make the most of your class by getting in the saddle at your local Harley-Davidson® dealership and trying a Jumpstart™ demo. Getting knowledgeable before your class begins will get you on a bike and feeling comfortable faster.

You’ll mount the motorcycle, set your boots on the foot pegs and fire up the engine under the watchful eye of our trained personnel. And then, sitting comfortably on the motorcycle, you’ll give the throttle a twist and continue to shift through the gears – all while safely and securely attached to the Jumpstart™ platform.

Please read, understand, and acknowledge the following Refund and Cancellation Policy:

• We will be transitioning from our old training bikes to the new RA-350 training bike in 2024. If you are less than 5’4” or more than 6’1”; have any mobility issues (i.e.,  knee replacement, hip replacement, etc.); or are of larger build, you MUST  contact us for an appointment to determine if taking the course will be possible on the new bikes. If you fail to do so you will be considered as having withdrawn and you will forfeit the ability to reschedule or receive a refund.

• You must provide written/email notice (catherton@blacktophd.com) at least fourteen (14) days prior to your scheduled course start date to cancel for a refund or to reschedule in a future course. Any notification less than fourteen (14) days will result in no refund and rescheduling is at the Riding Academy Manager’s discretion.

o There will be a $50.00 processing fee if you have started the e-Course any time prior to cancellation.

o A course may be rescheduled only during the same calendar year, subject to availability.

• If you do not show up for the first session of your scheduled course or any other scheduled day, you will be considered as having withdrawn from the course and you will forfeit the ability to reschedule or receive a refund.

• If you are late on any day of your scheduled course and miss any unit or exercise you will be considered as having withdrawn and you will forfeit the ability to reschedule or receive a refund.

• If you fail to complete the online e-Course within thirty (30) days prior to the first day of your scheduled course, you will be considered as having withdrawn and you will forfeit the ability to reschedule or receive a refund.

o You must bring proof of your e-Course completion certificate to the first day of your scheduled course. If you fail to provide proof of completion, you will be considered as having withdrawn and you will forfeit the ability to reschedule or receive a refund.

o Note: the e-Course is only valid if completed within the thirty (30) days prior to the first day of your scheduled course.

• If you leave or sit out of any scheduled unit or exercise for any reason other than medical, you will be counseled out of the course by the Riding Academy Coach and you will forfeit the ability to reschedule or receive a refund.

o If you provide a statement from your doctor that you cannot continue the course, Blacktop Harley-Davidson® will offer, for one time only, another course to you at no charge during the same calendar year, depending upon availability.

▪ The course fee will not be refunded. (Please note you will have to start a new course from the beginning.)

• Riding a motorcycle can be dangerous. If you are performing poorly, you may endanger yourself or other students. For these reasons, the Riding Academy Coach may counsel you out of the course. You may also voluntarily leave if you do not feel comfortable enough to continue.

o If you are counseled out of the course or voluntarily leave, Blacktop Harley-Davidson® will offer for one time only, another course to you at fifty percent (50%) of the regular tuition fee, during the same calendar year, depending upon availability.

o The course fee will not be refunded, and you will not be able to reschedule. (Please note you will have to start a new course from the beginning.)

• If you received your New Rider Course free, or at a discounted rate (from a promotion, drawing, raffle, etc.), you must attend your scheduled course and complete the e-Course for which you registered. The course fee will not be refunded, and you will not be able to reschedule.

• There are no guarantees anyone will pass the New Rider Course; it is very demanding both physically and mentally. Sometimes students are unable to pass the course on the first try. If you do not pass the skills evaluation or writing evaluation, you may schedule to re-test within thirty (30) days at no charge.

o Re-tests must be completed within thirty (30) days of the originally failed evaluation. Skills evaluation and writing evaluation re-tests are scheduled through the Riding Academy Manager by email (catherton@blacktophd.com) and taken with a subsequent class during that class’s testing time.

• A paid registration allows a student to take the New Rider Course one (1) time. No refund or rescheduling option will be given to students who fail the course.

• Blacktop Harley-Davidson® reserves the right to cancel any scheduled course for any reason. All efforts will be made to reschedule the course at a later date or place any registered student in the next available opening during the calendar year. If the student is unable to reschedule, a refund will be given.
